You will be amazed by the qualities of it´s plants, from which most of our medicines originated and from which most of the cures we desperately seek will be found if we don’t destroy it first. Each evening there will be some form of nocturnal activities. Night walks (optional for those who don´t want to look for Tarantulas and other creepy crawlies), Cayman spotting when conditions are optimal. And it´s possible, that your favorite memory of the Jungle will be the delicious meals, combining international & local cuisine, carefully prepared with fresh, high quality ingredients.

Your excess luggage will be stored safely in our office in Puerto Maldonado and then we will continue to the Capitania port. We take our motor boat along the Madre de Dios River for approximately 40 minutes to Paradise Amazon Lodge. A cool welcome drink awaits you.
Our first adventure will be going to the hanging high canopy bridge and zip lines.
The start of the adventure circuit is reached a tower and stairway that ascends to the treetops where a platform that marks the start of the zip-line almost 200mts long, the breathtaking views are only matched by the excitement of overcoming our fears and the adrenaline that courses through us as we leap off the platform supported by the high security harnesses that connect us to the zip- line cable to a platform 27mts high.
The 75mts long of the log walkway, hanging 27m above the floor, leads off this platform, a risky balancing act, and takes us to the platform at the start of the second zip line, a 160m fly back to the tower and stairwell that descends to the forest floor.
12.30 p.m. Return to the Paradise Amazon Lodge.
After a well-deserved lunch, we take the kayaks to the river, well protected with high quality life jackets, and accompanied by a motor boat that guarantees extra security; this level one activity is relaxing and accessible for all. Getting Monkey Island you will be able appreciate a great diversity of monkeys such as the: capuchin, tamarines y squirrel monkeys we will put on a show of swinging through the treetops charging down the trunks of the large trees that form their home in order to accept food from your hand. Return to Paradise Amazon Lodge. Nocturnal activities are available this night we have the caiman spotting.
After a great Jungle Breakfast, we take a 1.5 hour walk to the famous Sandoval Lake, passing through virgin forest, home to beautiful flora and fauna including Giant Otters, Water Birds, Alligators, wild hens, Taricayas (small turtles) and a variety of fish. We will spend a few hours in canoe on this, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Madre de Dios where you can fish for piranha, row, swim, walk or simply relax before returning to the Lodge in the afternoon.
We will have a box lunch at Sandoval lake. One of the most awe inspiring features of the Jungle is the enormity of the trees and you will have the experience of standing at the base of the huge Lupuna. We may take a short visit to the Fitzcarral boat or there is the opportunity to visit the traditional “chacras” farming areas of the zone. Return to the lodge. Dinner. Nocturnal Activities (optional)
we take to the majestic Madre de Dios River and set course downstream for an hour for the Native Community of Ese´Ejas, the largest Ese Eja community numbering about 200 families, of which we will be visiting two. The Project “Rescuing Cultural Values“, situated on Gamitana Island, is working with two families who will show us the culture of their ancestors, their language and customs, clothing and dances. In our modern, civilized world we have all but forgotten the existence of ancestral cultures and traditions.
An ancient indigenous tradition like the Ese´Eja reveals to us the customs and way of life of indigenous peoples. They gift us with the opportunity to have a direct contact with a people of ancient warriors and hunters and to share their ancestral ways.
1.pm lunch
By the afternoon we have time to do roustic fishing in Madre de Dios river, where with some luck we’ll have chance to catch some species like pictus cat fish, small mouth, armored cat fish and red eye piranha. Back to the lodge, dinner an rest.
Very early departure to view the parrot clay lick (Collpa de Loros) Sunrise on the river as we journey 1 and a half hours to a clay wall where hundreds of green parrots congregate at first light each morning. We will generally be able to spend about an hour here before reboarding the boat to enjoy breakfast on our return to Puerto Maldonado. Checkin 2 hours before flight and then time to visit the stunning Snake farm before your flight on to Cusco or Lima.
Here are some other options that will suit your needs
We were with Boris on our 4D/3N stay to celebrate our Anniversary! It was a great time and well worth it. It was just my husband and I with him the whole time except on the 2 boat outings we rode with another group but Boris was still with us that whole time. He was able to use his scope on a tripod so we could get great photos/videos which was really awesome!
The rooms are really nice for being outside lol it was HOT and humid. Like really hot. Quick dry loose hiking clothes are a must. Also long pants and long sleeves. But it’s hot, you’re going to sweat the whole time you’re there.
Use lots of bug spray for any exposed skin. I used a lotion insect repellent on my skin and then a spray everywhere on top of that. My husband wasn’t as cautious and was covered in sun fly bites.
Pack binoculars and a flashlight.
The food was good, we never went hungry. I would maybe bring some granola bars or something basic for the hikes next time. I would also definitly bring electrolytes next time.
As far as wildlife I think the charts on the website are just made up and the clay lick locations have changed so that part isn’t accurate either BUT we did get to see plenty! We saw 4 different types of monkeys like basically our entire hike the second day, it felt like every time I started to get bored we found more. It was super cool on our second hike 2 of the types of monkeys were making their alarm noise (obviously Boris told us this since we had no idea) and leaving on our last day the howler monkeys alerted again. They make a super creepy but amazing sound. We saw a GIANT tarantula Boris gently lured out of hiding that was pretty cool. We saw capybaras swimming on our departure. We saw 3 types of macaws and 1 even flew into the dining room, we saw 2 types of parrots, and lots of other birds. If you are going only for the birds I wouldn’t stay here because there are closer lodges to the current clay licks. If you want variety though I would stay here. We were super bummed to not see a Jaguar but it was still worth the trip!
